In her book “Other People’s Myths,” Wendy O’Flaherty says “It is impossible to define a myth, but it is cowardly not to try.” The story of Jesus’ resurrection often told at Easter empowered a fledgling, ragtag group of followers to form a community that continues today (for better and worse), but it wasn’t the first or only story of resurrection that held meaning and gave hope to generations of human meaning-makers. What are the myths that have helped us to make meaning in our own lives? And how might creative meaning-making serve us well in extremely trying times, such as those we are living through now?
